Staying in El Salvador, in the capital, conveniently named, San Salvador. My host is a crazy, ex-crackhead, scientologist. Maximiliano is his name. He has lived in the US several times and tried to fight in Desert Storm. But the army rejected him after 3 weeks of basic training when they found out he wasnt a resident of the U.S. He met Axl Rose at a scientology center in LA 4 years ago. He talked to all 4 of the Baldwin brothers while taking a writen drivers test at the DMV in LA. He also met Robert Downey Jr. drunk in a bar. He is 35, but still fought in the civil war is El Salvador in the ´80s. Must have been at most 16 years old then. He shot peple from helicopters using machine guns. That was for the governments side. But he also fought for the guerillas he says. ¨War is business.¨ His grandfather used to own half of San Salvador, but lost his fortune when he turned to drinking. He own what I believe to be the smallest internet cafe in El Salvador. 3 Computers. His house is right near where Archbishop Romero was killed in 1980, and we went there to see it. He knows the true story of the civil war in El Salvador and wants to write a book abut it. He thinks girls are ¨Yum, yum.¨ He does head-stand pushups first thing in the morning. Then rolls a joint. He has been in jail 2 times. He was once a window washer on skyscrappers in LA. He was deported from the U.S. in El Paso, TX. He is my host. A truly remarkable human being. And really a nice guy actually, just loco.
